Efficacy Porcilis PRRS - field trial, Italy
A field trial in Italy showing how there was a significant improvement in overal herd performance after vaccination.
629 pigs were vaccinated with Porcilis PRRS at 6 weeks of age. Data from the vaccinated pigs were compared with data from 635 unvaccinated pigs. All pigs received two vaccinations against Mycoplasma before weaning.

The probability of survival time in days for the vaccinated and control groups
The percentage of animals treated by injection in vaccinated and control groups was respectively 23.6 and 59.8. The RR of having a treatment for pneumonia in vaccinated pigs vs control pigs was 0.3979 (cl95%= 0.3405 - 0.4649).

The presence of lung lesions in the control and vaccinated groups
The results of this trial were:
- Reduction of mortality in the vaccinated group
- Substantial reduction in percentage of animals requiring antibiotic, injectable treatment
- Less lung lesions due to respiratory disease in vaccinated pigs
- Increased probability of survival of vaccinated pigs
Conclusion
In this study there was a significant improvement of the overall herd performance.
