A field trial in Italy showing how there was a significant improvement in overal herd performance after vaccination.
629 pigs were vaccinated with Porcilis PRRS at 6 weeks of age. Data from the vaccinated pigs were compared with data from 635 unvaccinated pigs. All pigs received two vaccinations against Mycoplasma before weaning.
| Vaccinated | Controls | |
|---|---|---|
| Mortality | 1.75 | 4.41 |
| Probability of survival | 95.4%* | 92.8% |
| % treated pigs | 23.6% | 59.8% |
| Prevalence of pneumonia | 36%** | 54% |
| Prevalence of pleuritis | 2.3%** | 12% |
Mortality rate of pigs during the trial for vaccinated and control groups
The probability of survival time in days for the vaccinated and control groups
The percentage of animals treated by injection in vaccinated and control groups was respectively 23.6 and 59.8. The RR of having a treatment for pneumonia in vaccinated pigs vs control pigs was 0.3979 (cl95%= 0.3405 - 0.4649).
The number of injections given per day for the vaccinated and the control groups

The presence of lung lesions in the control and vaccinated groups
